Los Angeles Cosmic Buildings Ongoing

Cosmic Buildings

Overview

Cosmic Buildings is a Los Angeles-based prefabricated home manufacturer pioneering vertically integrated, all-electric residential construction. From a mobile robotic factory the company produces precision wall panels — carbon-storing structural wood that holds roughly a tonne of CO&sub2; per cubic metre — and assembles them on site in as little as eight weeks. Each home ships with rooftop solar, battery storage, and a fire-resistant envelope rated for California wildfire zones. The work has been featured in Fast Company, Dezeen, Forbes, Dwell, and ArchDaily.

Scope

Dr. Milos Dimcic, OnceMore’s CEO, serves personally as Head of Design Computation at Cosmic Buildings. His responsibility - build a full house configurator that turns the idea of mass customization into something operational — custom-designed homes delivered with the efficiency of prefabricated architecture, end-to-end in software. The configurator threads zoning and permitting, architectural design, fabrication data, on-site assembly, and long-term maintenance into a single automated pipeline. It is the vision Milos has been advocating for years, now being put into production at Cosmic.

Outcome

Ongoing. The configurator is being built out in parallel with Cosmic’s production lines, and as it matures more of the pipeline — zoning, design, permitting — is being absorbed into the same automated thread that already drives fabrication and on-site assembly.

Capabilities Applied

  • Full house configurator architecture
  • Digital twin generation for robotic production
  • Vertical integration from client brief to factory
  • Parametric systems eliminating manual rework
