Kuwait City Foster + Partners 2026

Kuwait International Airport

Overview

The new Terminal 2 by Foster + Partners is one of the world’s most ambitious airport projects: a multi-billion-dollar facility designed for the Kuwaiti desert, with a roof spanning some 80 m and three symmetrical wings reaching out to the apron. Its low-slung, low-energy form is shaped to deflect the harsh climate and harvest daylight, and its civil works are targeted for completion at the end of 2026.

Scope

In collaboration with Werner Sobek Engineering, OnceMore automated BIM element creation and solved geometric problems across the free-form roof shell.

Outcome

Automated generation of the reinforcement for all concrete panels of the roof — large, square-in-plan panels that were double-curved in surface, with edges of up to 6 metres.

Capabilities Applied

  • Automated BIM element generation
  • Curved panel layout on double-curved surfaces
  • Reinforcement automation for concrete panels
  • Steel-element preparation for analysis and fabrication
