Overview
The largest spherical structure ever built and, at roughly 2.3 billion USD, one of the most expensive venues on the planet. 157 metres in diameter and 112 metres tall, the Sphere wraps its audience in a 16K interior display of around 15,000 m² — while its outer Exosphere skin carries a further 54,000 m² of programmable LEDs, making it simultaneously the world’s largest indoor and outdoor screens.
Scope
We created custom Rhino plug-ins and used them to automatically generate the full Digital Twin of the interior LED screen structure - delivering production ready shop drawings and CNC files for more than 30.000 unique aluminium and steel elements. We also helped with the automated generation of the full, analysis ready, FEM model (with all the supports, load combinations, hinges, materials and cross-sections automatically asigned).
Outcome
The model was generated to a precision of 0.001 mm and prepared for production fully automatically, eliminating manual modelling across the entire interior screen system.
